A perfect day weather wise for footy.
the game was a classic case of 2 halves of footy. We controlled the first half with some really good clearance work and some quick ball movement and Sorrento controlled the second half.
There was only 1 point in it at three quarter time and unfortunatley Sorrento kicked 3 goals late in the space of a 5 minute burst to break the game open. Our boys gave it their all up until the final siren. Good job boys.
See you all next week for the last game of the season.

Another hard fought win by the boys today.
We were switched on early and started the game really strong and came into quarter time full of confidence.
However for the remaining 3 quarters we really struggled to get the ball inside our attacking zone and with the inside 50 count 35-13 against us, our defenders worked hard all day under enormous pressure.
Really proud of the boys not to get sucked into the niggle again and to just play their own game.
    Another great team effort.
    Well done lads.

Outstanding game of football today by the boys against a quality side in Kingsway.
It was by far our best game we have layed all year and our first game we have put together 4 quarters of tough uncomprimising footy.
From the very first bounce the boys seemed switched on ready to play.
Our run & link game worked really well and defensively we were very rarely beaten with our midfielders dropping back and helping out when required.
Clearly our best win of the season.
    Great job today boys.

Another tough game of footy in really tough conditions. The wind played havoc all game and unfortunately we were not able to capitalise when we were kicking with it.
We managed to win 3 out of the 4 quarters however we were totally outplayed in 1 quarter which effectively cost us the game.
It was a real good lesson in how to play in those conditions which will only help us in the future.
It was very pleasing to see everyone trying their hardest throughout the game. Well done boys.

Tough day today against quality opposition.
We were 5 players down due to school holidays and this left us lacking skill & polish all over the ground.
A few players really stood up for us today in particular Ollie who played his best game ever & Mark who played his best game for the year.
However it was very dissappointing to still see players not trying and not willing to give their best for the team & their team mates. As explained to the playing group today that the expectation is that everyone will give 100% effort at all times and if not, they will spend additional time on the bench as a result. Well done boys.

Another slow start found ourselves playing catch up football for the rest of the game.
We are really struggling to man up for the duration of the game, we seem to be able to do it for 5 mins and then it seems we lose our way and start getting sucked into the play whilst our opponents hold their position.
We are starting to rely on too few to get the job done for us week in week out. Enjoy the break boys & see you in a couple of weeks.

Another game where we let the opposition dictate the play for most of the game.
They led us to the ball for the first half and were harder and tougher at the contest.
I challenged the boys at three quarter time to dig deep and tough it out for the last quarter and to their credit they did just that.
We came away with an exciting 1 point win with the opposition having a shot for goal after the siren to win it, fortunately for us he kicked a point.
Lots of things to work on at training.
    Well done boys

Another Kingsley Derby and another cracking game of footy.
The Kingsley Lions came out ready to play and for the majority of the first quarter they were first at the ball, tougher at the contest and seem to have spare numbers everywhere whilst we had trouble manning up and sticking to our zones.
The second quarter we managed to increase our attack on the ball and started to defend a lot better.
The rain bucketed down and the wind was blowing a gale throughout the third quarter and it just turned into a game of grit your teeth, stick your head over the ball and just keep it moving forward.
15 minutes of hard, tough footy for the last quarter saw the score stay within a kick for the whole quarter.
The boys from both teams should be extremely proud of their efforts today as it was a brilliant game of footy, the Lions stuck to their structures extremely well & are a very disciplined side....well done boys.

Today we came up against an undermanned Balga side who could only manage to field 11 players in what was a typical winters day of wet weather footy.
Each quarter we lent them 4 players and I challenged all my boys that when they were playing for the opposition team that they give 100% effort at all times.
They did exactly as they were asked and their sportsmanship was outstanding.
    Well done boys.
A big thank you to all the parents / grandparents / siblings for your support, standing in the wind & rain to cheer the boys on, I know they appreciate it.

What better way to spend Mother's Day than playing a game of footy.
A great team performance with all parts of the ground on top for the duration of the game.
The most pleasing aspect was the teamwork orientated things the boys did such as shepharding, smothering, talking and the use of the handball to give it off to a team mate who was in a better position.
It's very pleasing to see the things we are working on at training being taken into the game on Sundays.
Great game boys, see you on the track on Thursday.

We came up against a fierce Kingsley Lions side in a derby and boy did they come out ready to play.
The first quarter was a real tough contest played mostly through the middle part of the ground with neither team able to capitilize on their forward entries due to outstanding defence.
Our boys pressure all over the ground & tackling was superb.
Our ball use & decision making seems to be getting better and I thought it was a real team orientated 4 quarter effort this week.
    Great job lads.

Great first up team effort from the boys to kick off the season. It was a tight contest all day played in two halves. For the first half I thought we were hungrier for the ball and Carine came out after the main break and controlled the second half.
A few things to work on at training this week especially our manning up which really let us down at times and gave Carine too much easy ball around the ground.
Couldn't fault our intent & endeavour throughout and there were some great passages of play.
    Well done lads
