Today the boys played their last game for the season and the sunny weather turned it on again for them.
The Year 6 Lions started the game strong and ran hard the first quarter and slotted some goals however then dropped off the next 2 quarters and really let Sorrento back in the game.
After a couple of panicked quarters with many more points than goals scored the boys rallied together for the final quarter, dug in and pushed hard to finish the season strong and one they can feel really proud of.
    Great game against quality opposition.
Great season KJFC Year 6 Lions.

On yet another glorious morning for football the KJFC Year 6 Lions squared off against the Stirling Saints.
The game was fast from the outset and both teams gave a cracking contest and gave it everything they had. The lions really applied some good tackling pressure in the middle of the game which really paved the way for the Lions to move the ball into their forward line quickly and efficiently and give the forwards every opportunity to score.
Another great hard fought game by the Lions

The Year 6 Lions played away at Sorrento today and came up against a team that came to play and they did just that..
While our boys played some good footy it was in patches and the boys need to concentrate on the game and there positioning for the whole game not just patches.
All that aside some good plays and some good ball movement and a good consolidating chat at 3/4 time got the guys re-focused for the last quarter.

On a perfect morning for footy the KJFC Year 6 Lions played Kingsway Teal and had one of their toughest games this season.
After a slightly panicky start to the game, the boys slowed down their kicking and started to try and look for free players and started moving the ball quickly which got them back into the game.
The tackling was very good today with all the boys making sure their technique was good and we didn't give any free kicks away for sling tackles.
A Great game played with good spirit from both teams today.

Another perfect day today for a game of footy and again the year 6 Lions played a fantastic game!
The boys move the footy quick and accurately to keep the knights on their toes for the whole game. The Lions show more and more each week that they are trying to do what they go through at training and this game they improved on looking for free players and using more voice out on the oval.
Some great plays trough out the game with fast play down the wings and the middle and some great form around goals.
Was a joy to watch the KJFC Year 6 Lions today as they are really starting to work as a unit and giving it their all for the team.

Another great game of footy today with the boys playing in tough slippery conditions.
The Lions and Hawks played awesome fair footy and were evenly matched across the ground.
Again the year 6 Lions defense held strong and really started to rebound into our forward half quickly and efficiently in the 2nd half and started getting some good supply to the forwards.
The talking was quiet through the first half but when that improved in the last 2 quarters so to did the quality of play.

    Coaches Comments

Today was a tough day on the oval. The KJFC Year 6 Lions played the Balga Bombers year 5, 6 and 7 team and was a rough game physically and verbally.
The lions put that all aside and played brilliant footy. With a massive increase and volume of talking on the field attributing the speed and accuracy they moved the ball. All of our players dug in and played the positions they were asked to hard but most importantly fair.
The sole focus of the boys on getting hands on the ball and looking for the next link player showed that they have what it takes to play great team footy.
Very proud of the boys to not get involved in the abuse on the field and very happy they could walk from the oval with their heads held high and smiles all around.

What another glorious day for footy on Sunday morning!
The Year 6 Lions got of to a very lethargic start and let the Carine Cougars jump out of the gate early. For 2 quarters of footy the Lions were 2nd to the ball and struggled to fine a free player when they did get the ball.
The boys were challenged by the coach at 1/2 time and responded tremendously. They had there own brief 1/2-time chat among themselves as a team and came out with a different mind set for the 2nd half.
With more want for the footy, great man on man contests and players finding space, the year 6 Lions put the Carine Cougars back in their box.
Great hard fought 2nd half by all the Lions players

The year 6 lions played today in perfect conditions today against the Carine Cats on their home turf.
The lions got off to a great start and held there positioning really well. Unfortunately we put the cue in the rack to early and let the Carine Cats back in the game.
There were some big hits in the game and spooked a couple of our players but most of the boys dug deep and gave it everything.
    Great game.

Another great Sunday morning for footy today and another great game for the KJFC Year 6 Lions. We played the 3rd team from our own club so it was the 2nd Derby this year.
The boys played good footy for most of the game but had home patches where they were caught watching the ball, the plus side was when challenged at half time the boys took on board their instructions and went back to what has been practiced at training.
The boys also sharpened up their skills and concentrated more on finding space and passing by foot and hand rather than blazing away.
Another great game played by the year 6 Lions.

The Kingsley year 6 played the Sorrento Duncraig year 6 Lions.
What a great morning for footy today and both teams played really well.
Our boys made the most of every opportunity to involve their team mates either by foot or by hand and really opened up the opposition at times. Being a quick team the boys started to work through some of the things learnt about quick ball use and running along side the ball carrier ready for the kick to the middle space.
A great effort put in by all the team and some great team only focus plays.

Today the Kingsley Year 6 Lions played the Kingsley year 6 Tigers.
The weather held off for the game and made for great footy weather. The boys played well and really got to work in the first half of the game. The second half the boys played a bit loose and where shown up but credit to them as they dug deep in the last quarter and played the game out well.
Again the boys are really starting to look for a handball target for the quick out and leading at the ball carrier giving the guys a chance to get the ball moving quickly.
The work at training also paid off with guys following up their handball and kicks and getting on the end of another touch of the footy.
Great efforts again year 6 Lions.

The year 6 lions had a tough day at the office today. The opposition seemed to be more focused on the person rather that the ball, which let the lions open them up with their running and quick ball movement.
The boys really knuckled down early and looked for open players to go to by foot or hand and were rewarded time and time again.
All the boys played team footy and seeing them get around each other at the final siren knowing they had given all they had for each other was the most rewarding part of the game.

Kingsley Lions played an arch nemesis in the Sorrento Duncraig Tigers today.
Today the boys played great team footy, hand passing the ball, kicking to leading players and protecting the ball carrier. They tackled hard but fair and were rewarded time and time again.
Watching the boys play their positions they were given and understanding their rolls, whether they are playing forward, back or though the middle is rewarding and also makes the team extremely versatile.

The opening round for the year 6 lions was a cracker of a round against great opposition the Stirling Saints. A team that we match up well on and was a great game to start with and judge where we are as a team. The boys played superbly and showed that the skills and positioning that we have been running through at training are starting to show on the field.
Great to see the boys come of the game feeling great about their efforts and seeing some proud parents greeting the boys with great encouragement.
